Almost 20 years later, we're back where it started.

Hey Reader,

Yesterday was a pretty special day. 🫶🏾

The journey of building Team Williams Training has been a roller coaster, to say the least.

There were moments when I genuinely wasn't sure it was going to happen. Moments when things didn't go according to plan. Moments when I questioned whether I could actually pull this whole thing off.

But thankfully, I didn't quit. I didn't give up.

And yesterday was one of those days that reminded me why it was all worth it.

Yesterday, Megan got to do her very first official workout at Team Williams Training. 🦾🫶🏾

And I don't think I can fully put into words what that meant to me.

For those of you who know our story, you know that our love story actually started in a gym.

Back in 2007, almost 20 years ago, at the Omni Club of Athens.

That's where I first met Megan.

I was her personal trainer.

Then I became her boyfriend.

Then her fiancé.

Then her husband.

And eventually, the father of our children.

And now, almost 20 years later, here we are.

In a gym that I've poured my heart and soul into building. A place that represents so much more than just a business to me.

It's an investment in our future. In our family. In the life we're building together.

And every ounce of energy, every long day, every late night, and every challenge along the way has been worth it knowing that what I'm building is ultimately for us.

But here's the thing.

I wouldn't be here without her.

Through every high and low of this journey, Megan has been my biggest supporter, my best friend, and my partner in every sense of the word.

She's believed in me during moments when I struggled to believe in myself.

She's encouraged me when things got hard.

And she's stood beside me through all of it.

So getting to watch her walk through the doors yesterday, put in the work, and officially have her first session in the books?

Man, my heart was full. 🫶🏾

From being her personal trainer nearly 20 years ago to getting to coach her in a gym that now carries our family name.

That's pretty special.

There are so many things I'm grateful for right now. The people who have supported this journey. The opportunities we've been given. The blessings we've received.

And all the ones that are still to come.

Yesterday was a reminder that sometimes the biggest rewards aren't the things you build.

They're the people you get to share them with.

And for me, that's Megan, Camden, and Kingsley.

They're are my WHY.

They're the reason I keep showing up, keep pushing forward, and keep working to build something meaningful.

When I look at the name Team Williams Training, I don't just see the name of a business.

I see my family.

I see the woman who has stood beside me for nearly 20 years, the two incredible kids we're raising together, and the future we're working to build.

And I see an opportunity to take everything I've learned over the years and use it to help other people stay strong, healthy, and capable of enjoying their lives with the people they love.

That's what Team Williams is all about.

And I'm incredibly grateful that you get to be a part of this journey with us.

Here's to everything that's still ahead. 🦾🫶🏾

The Rhuben Williams Newsletter

I've spent more than 20 years coaching people in Athens, Georgia, and I've learned that strength is about a lot more than what happens inside a gym.As the owner of Team Williams Training, a husband, a father, and a coach who still has plenty to learn, this is where I share lessons about strength, health, coaching, family, and building a life with intention. Some lessons come from the gym. Others come from life. And plenty are lessons I'm still learning myself. Simple, NOT Easy. Intentional. Deliberate. And always getting stronger.

Lesson Eight: People Matter More Than Programming When I first became a coach, I spent a lot of time thinking about programming. Was this the right exercise? The right number of sets? The right percentage? The right progression? Those things matter. They always will. But over the last nine years, I've realized something. The workout has never been the most important part of coaching. People are. I've learned that no program—no matter how well it's written—can replace listening. No perfectly...

Lesson Seven: Intentional & Deliberate If there's one phrase that's probably become synonymous with my coaching over the years, it's this: Intentional. Deliberate. You've heard me say it before a lift. During a workout. After a missed rep. And probably more times than you can count. The funny thing is... Those two words have come to mean just as much to me outside the gym as they do inside it. When I first started coaching, I thought my job was to help people work harder. Over the years, I...

Lesson Six: Consistency Beats Perfection If there's one lesson I've seen proven over and over again during the last nine years, it's this: Perfection is overrated. I've never met anyone who had a perfect training schedule. Life doesn't work that way. Vacations happen. Kids get sick. Work gets busy. Injuries happen. Motivation comes and goes. There will always be reasons to miss a workout. There will always be seasons when life feels overwhelming. The people who experienced the greatest...
